London readers continue to browse at a bombed-out library at Holland House, Kensington, during Word War II.
Isn't this photograph amazing? It is attributed to James R. Benn, a World War II novelist. Spectacular.
Have you heard about "The Monuments Men"? It's a movie about people trying to save art during WWII. I kind of wish it had been about books instead (although art is although worth saving, obviously).
ReplyDeleteI just saw the preview! It looks like good fun. Of course, it has Matt Damon in it, and I'll see anything with Matt Damon, so.
DeleteWow, the way they are so casually looking at the bookshelves with all the rubble around. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's kind of haunting, isn't it? Gives me goosebumps.
