Top Ten Reasons I Love Being a Blogger/Reader

I'm participating in today's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  This week's prompt is:

Top Ten Reasons I Love Being a Blogger/Reader

I've been a book blogger for a whopping 4 months, so obviously I'm an expert, guys.  Seriously, though, I do love blogging, but my first love is reading, so I'm going to base my answers on that.  Here's my list of my top ten reasons why I love reading:

10.  Reading makes me smarter.

9.  Reading makes me more compassionate and empathetic.

8.  Reading allows me to escape and relax.

7.  Reading connects me to parts of the world I've never seen.

6.  Reading connects me to parts of history that I will never experience firsthand.

5.  Reading allows me to imagine better.

4.  Reading gives me role models.

3.  Reading lets me believe the impossible.  Anything is possible in books.  Impossible situations, fabled creatures, intergalactic politics, happy endings... it's all not just possible in books, it happens on millions of pages.

2.  Reading gives me a greater vocabulary.

1.  Reading gives me courage.  "Fairytales are more than true, not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten." -Neil Gaiman

Oh, books.  I love you.

What about you?  Why do you read?

  • Oh my goodness, I love your list! I wanted to pick a favorite, but they're all just so good. I'm narrowing it down to #s 5-9 especially;) Maybe 8, I think I'll pick that one! There's nothing better than relaxing with a good book.

Here are my top reasons I love reading & blogging, if you'd like to check them out:)

  • Agreed!! Reading is so relaxing, and in this stressful and sometimes overwhelming world, few things are as valuable to me as my de-stressers. :)
Thanks for your comment! Looking forward to reading your list!

Hi! Thanks for your comment! I am currently being hit by a large amount of spam, so I've upped my comment moderating settings for the time being. I will revert back to more comment friendly settings once the spammers go back to the gutters from whence they came.
