Top Ten Book Covers I'd Frame as Pieces of Art

I'm participating in today's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  This week's prompt is:

Top Ten Book Covers I'd Frame as Pieces of Art

Great prompt, right?  Here are some book covers that double as great artwork:

10. Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce

9. All the books from the Penguin Hardcover Classics Series

8. Stray by Elissa Sussman
(This one's actually not out yet, but I want to read it BAD just because I lurve the cover.)

7. Poison by Sarah Pinborough

6. Harry Potter... because those books are awesome.

5. The newer Potter covers illustrated by Kazu Kibuishi are lovely as well.

4. Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

3. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
(I didn't love the story as much as others, but the cover is still pretty awesome.)

2. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
(I bought this book solely because of the cover.  So lovely.)

1. Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri
(The inside is as spectacular as the outside, too.)

What's your favorite book cover?
Would you ever hang covers in your home?  I like the idea of framing these beautiful covers, but I can't bear the thought of desecrating any of these books by ripping the covers off of them.  Maybe I'd hang a poster version or something along those lines.  You?

Great covers! I LOVE the HP ones by Kazu Kibuishi, but I'm holding out for the cover reveals of all 7 of Bloomsbury's new rereleases later this year - if they are amazing then I will get them instead. Stray has such a brilliant cover, it's on Edelweiss and I just downloaded that one - let's hope we both love it. Nice picks :) Here's my TTT.

I love all the officially-made and fan-made Potter covers out there! So many talented people in the world. I'm excited for the Bloomsbury covers, I bet they'll be awesome too. Thanks for the tip on Stray, I'll have to download it too!

  • You've got some great picks- Sisters Red and The Odyssey would both look great framed. And the Harry Potter covers- I especially like #1 and Half Blood Prince (the new covers), those would look great on a wall too!

Thanks for your comment! I have a dream of creating a Harry Potter themed room in my home, where all the book covers would be framed. That's probably embarrassing to admit, but I love those books, and all the cover art that has come out with it!

  • Thanks for visiting my blog! I really like your choices. Oddly, I didn't even think about Harry a Potter when putting my list together. I love the HP artwork, especially the new versions you mentioned. I will definitely be getting the box set at some point!

It was my pleasure, I loved your list! I agree, HP artwork is so fun to look at. I have a set with the original artwork, but I kind of want these newer versions as well... I'm sure I can find some way to justify the purchase. :)

From all the books you mentioned I think Stray would be the one to lure me in. I wouldn't necessarily hang it on my walls, but I would definitely pick it up at a bookstore.

Agreed! That cover is really lovely, but there's also something kind of haunting about it, don't you think? Can't wait to read it.

I loved this week's theme as well. "All the books from the Penguin Hardcover Classics Series" Yes.. I have to agree with this! If I bought more books I would get this whole collection!!!

Oh my gosh, I know. They're so beautiful, I'd want a copy for every room in my house. That's not overkill at all, right?? :)

  • Wonderful picks, Melissa! I especially love the covers of Sisters Red and Poison! I'd pair them up together in my " future reading room." haha. But I'm also with you on the Penguin Hardcover Classics. They are a thing of a beauty, aren't they? Haz to have 'em all! And Harry Potter? YES! Though I still need to finish the series. *Don't hurt me* lol

Girl, I just want to take this time to apologize for not visiting lately. My job has been sucking the life out of me -- well that and something else (nothing too alarming). But in a little over 4 weeks, I'll be around more often. (SUMMER VACATION)! :D

Marlene! No need to apologize! I totally understand, that's just how life goes sometimes. I love having you over here, and I love reading your posts on Flyleaf Review, and will continue to support you no matter what life throws at you. Good luck handling everything going on! I hope you get some nice R&R this summer! :)

PS- OMG I totally need a "reading room" in order to hang all my favorite covers. That is the best idea ever.

  • These are awesome. I've actually been considering buying a print off Etsy that's *very* similar to the Stray cover (which I hadn't seen until just now) https://www.etsy.com/listing/62388144/the-queen-8x12-inch-print-fantasy-art?ref=favs_view_5

Wow, that print is eerily similar to the Stray cover. I wonder if it was used as inspiration, or perhaps that etsy artist collaborated on the cover design...? It does seem too similar to be a coincidence, doesn't it?
