ReplyDeleteThis post makes me so happy, mostly because I'm recently obsessed with this whole series. So when I decided to do this masters degree, the first class I demanded to take was a Shakespeare class and I'm loving it... mostly because we watched the Hollow Crown's version of Richard II this last week, which was AWESOME. Patrick Stewart played John of Gaunt and Ben Wishaw played Richard II. Have you heard of Ben Wishaw? He's BRILL. It was mind blowing and oh-so-beautifully acted. When I saw that our pal Bennybatch and my absolute favorite Judi were going to be making appearances, I about lost it.
But that's not all!
I started looking into the series more and turns out many of my favorites are in it. Observe:
Julie Walters (MOLLY WEASLEY!!), Richard Griffiths (VERNON DURSLEY!), Tom Hiddleston (Loki from Thor!), Clémence Poésy (FLEUR!), Michelle Dockery (Mary from Downton Abbey!) ,Hugh Bonneville (Lord Grantham from Downton Abbey!), Jeremy Iron (many things including the voice of Scar from Lion King!), David Bradley (FILCH!) among many others.
This is Shakespeare at its finest. Lets watch all of it. And marvel.
SO MANY GREAT THINGS IN THIS COMMENT.
DeleteI can't wait to see it. That cast is outstanding. It's about time for some new adaptations, and I couldn't be happier with the direction these adaptations are heading. Awesomeness abounds.
I'm not familiar with Ben Wishaw, though. I'll have to look into his work.
SO EXCITED.
