THE SERIES SERIES: Series I've Continued (But Haven't Completed)

I'm doing a follow up on my Series Series this week!  Yesterday I wrote about series I've finished since my last series series post a year and a half ago, and whether I'd recommend them.  Today I'm talking about:

Series I've Continued (But Haven't Completed)

The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson
Number of books I've read: 2 out of 3
Series in 5 words: Surprising, Enthralling, Magical Medieval Fantasy
Will I Continue?: Heck yes!  I am so excited to get my hands on the final book in this trilogy.  I've loved this series.  Are you dying for book 3 like I am??

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Number of books I've read: 4 out of 6
Series in 5 words: Prepare To Get Seriously Wrecked
Will I Continue?: Obviously, yes.  I'm a huge fan of this series.  I'm a little nervous that I've forgotten things though.  This is a really complicated story with a huge cast list, and I can't remember everyone or everything that happened.  Maybe I'll reread the others before starting Empire of Storms this Fall.  (Anyone else feel like the cover image for Empire of Storms doesn't match the others?)

Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
Number of books I've read: 2 out of 3
Series in 5 words: Characters Struggle Through Misty Evils
Will I Continue?: Yes.  But only because I want closure.  Not because I love this series.  I don't dislike it, but I find I'd usually rather read something else.

Elemental Blessings Trilogy by Sharon Shinn
Number of books I've read: 3 out of 5
Series in 5 words: Shinn Is A Writing Goddess
Will I Continue?: Definitely.  This series is my favorite of all Ms. Shinn's work, which is saying something because I love everything she writes.  This world is so interesting and unique.  I really feel like I understand this world's culture, economics, politics, shortcomings, etc.  Plus there's just enough supernatural elements for it to feel magical.  I love reading this series, and I'm so excited for book 4 to be released in the Fall!

The Cormoran Strike Series by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling)
Number of books I've read: 3 out of ?
Series in 5 words: Insanely Plotted Who Dun Its
Will I Continue?: For sure yes.  That last book left things hanging, and I NEED to know what happens next!  Usually a new Strike novel comes out each Fall, but I haven't heard any news about the fourth book yet.  (Probably because Rowling has been occupied with The Cursed Child and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.)  If you hear anything about book 4 then let me know!  I'm dying to get my hands on it.  (Don't do it, Robin!!!)

What series are you in the middle of reading?

  1. I can't think of all the series I'm in the middle of right now. There are many. I haven't made much progress since my posts last year. I did finish the Matched series, but I think that's it, lol. Plus, I've started others, lol.

Way to finish the Matched series! I haven't finished those yet. It's a little embarrassing how many new series I've started though. That's my next post. :)

  • I'm reading the first of Sanderson's Evil Librarian series and I find it so so weird and not particularly entertaining. Why is he so darn popular?! Have you heard much about his Stormlight series? I know I won't keep reading this series I've started but think Sanderson might deserve a second chance.

Yeah, I'm pretty lukewarm on Sanderson. I've struggled enough getting through Mistborn and I'm not sure I can handle more. I probably won't read him again unless you demand me to. I'll spend my time with The Remnant Series instead.
