Top Ten Books I'd Love To See As Movies/TV Shows

I'm participating in today's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  This week's prompt is:

Top Ten Books I'd Love To See As Movies/TV Shows

It should come as no surprise to you that I love a good book-to-film adaptation.  The entire adaptation process fills me with excitement and dread and anticipation.  And although there have been a lot of adaptations lately, there are a few books that haven't received the book-to-film treatment, that I think would make great fodder for the big or small screen.  Here are my picks!

10. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
I think the rotating perspectives thing, complete with the who-dun-it mystery, would make an excellent movie.  I'd definitely see it.

9. The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
I finished this book last week, and I am still in withdrawal.  PLEASE adapt this one, world.

8. Red Rising by Pierce Brown
The high stakes action and complicated politics make a great story in any medium.  I think Game of Thrones fans would like this one because NO ONE IS SAFE.

7. Dangerous by Shannon Hale
This book was kind of polarizing, but I think if done well it could be an impressive film.  There's humor, science, action, bad guys, and aliens.  It's a summer blockbuster waiting to happen, people.

6. The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
I'd love to see this one adapted, not only because the costumes and set designs would be fabulous, but because I want to see Ezra Miller as Arin.

5. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Seriously.  This needs to happen.

4. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
I would want a film trilogy done of these, but only if they promise not to split the last book into two films.

3. The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
See #4.

2. The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
Oooh, I think a high fantasy television series (without the abundance of violence as seen in Game of Thrones) is just what this world needs.  And this is just the series to base it on.

1. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I actually didn't love this book, but I think the story would convert well to film.  I'd love to see that circus come to life.

What book do you want to see adapted?

  1. Oooh. I think The Night Circus would be really cool on the big screen. They could do so much with it. It could be epic if done right.

Totally! I has potential to be really visually stunning, I think. I'd love to see an adaptation of that one.

  • Let's bond over not loving The Night Circus! :) I always feel like such a heathen about it because everyone seems to love it. But I think a movie would be really interesting visually. And I so agree on the whole "quit splitting the last movie of a trilogy in two!" I'm tired of it.

Cheers! I totally agree. As much as I felt "meh" towards the book, I still think it would be a great movie.

I actually haven't read any of these books myself except for The Winner;s Curse, which I did like but didn't find spectacular. Which is why I probably wouldn't be interested in that movie. BUT I might go just to see the dress on the cover in action :P

Haha! Well if the dress is as spectacular on screen as it is on the book, I can't say I'd blame you. :)
