Top Ten Books On My Fall To-Be-Read List

I'm participating in today's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's prompt is:

Top Ten Books On My Fall To-Be-Read List


My to-read list is... long.  Like, really, really long.  There are always a few books that I'm especially excited for, though.  Here are my most anticipated reads for this Fall!

10. Golden Son by Pierce Brown
Technically this book doesn't come out until January.  But since I might DIE if I have to wait that long, I'm including it in my Fall list.

9. The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
The reviews for this one have almost exclusively been insanely positive.  I must know what all the hubbub is about.

8. Yes Please by Amy Poehler
...Oh, I'm sorry, did you want more of an explanation besides "Amy Poehler"?

7. Of Metal and Wishes by Sarah Fine
A Phantom of the Opera retelling in an Asian setting?  BRING IT ON.

6. Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth
I'm all about retellings these days, and this Rapunzel retelling looks fantastic.

5. Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
I've been checking my spot on the library's wait list on an hourly basis.  WE NEEDS IT, PRECIOUSSSS.

4. Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay
I love short stories, and this new book of short stories sounds fascinating.

3. The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
I'm no stranger to Literature-with-a-capital-L, but for some reason this book intimidates me.  Which is why I think I should read it.

2. Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
Emma Watson has taken on the film adaptation of this book, which obviously means I must read it immediately.

1. Stray by Elissa Sussman
Because that cover is just so lovely.

    Looks like a good line up. I'm really curious about that Asian Phantom story. I can't wait for the review!

      Thanks! I'm really looking forward to reading it. I was obsessed with the Phantom musical from about age 8-14, so this book has some nostalgic appeal to me as well. Can't wait to read it!

    I have to be honest here, celebrities writing books is not exactly Gods gift to humanity, but if Amy Poehler has a book, then we've been gifted, and I'm gonna need it. I'd also like to read the Goldfinch but it's 800 pages are scaring me.

      Totally agree with you on celebrity authors - I'm not interested unless it's Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, or Mindy Kaling. Since this is Amy Poehler, though, I MUST HAVE IT.
      The Goldfinch is totally intimidating, but that's precisely why I want to read it, because it scares me. :)

    Oh, man! I need to pick up the Red Rising series at some point in my life! I've heard nothing but excellent things! Since I know you're a woman of great taste, I think I should also get on that Throne of Glass bandwagon -- and soon! Of Metal and Wishes is one I've been SO eager to get to, so if I cough up the dough to buy it, then I'll definitely be reading it. :)

      I've missed you too! Hope all is well on your end. I definitely recommend Red Rising and Throne of Glass: they're both seriously epic. :)

    Haha, I love that you put Golden Son on your list! Red Rising was awesome and IS IT JANUARY YET???

    Queen of the Tearling is great! Liked it a lot! AND HEIR OF FIRE!

    Kiss of Deception is high up on my wishlist. I'm pretty sure I'm buying it sometime this fall and read it too!
